MEAT BALLS IN BUTTERMILK SAUCE

Ingrediënten:


11/2 lbs. ground beef3 T. chopped green pepper
1 small onion, finely chopped
1/3 c. sliced celeryI c. cooked rice
1 t. saltI egg
1/2 t. pepper1 can (10 1/2 oz.) mushroom soup
1 soup can of buttermilk1 can mushroom stems and pieces (2 oz.)

Preparation:


Put the ground beef, onion, green pepper, celery, rice, salt, pepper, and egg into a large bowl; work together with hands till well mixed. Divide into 12 portions and roll each into a ball. Place in a greased 2 quart casserole. Place the soup, buttermilk, and liquid from the mushrooms in a bowl; beat until smooth. Pour over the meat balls, along with the mushrooms. Bake in a moderate oven (350' F.) for 1 hour. The extra gravy is good to spoon over baked potatoes.
