Pork chop skillet

Ingredients:


4 pork chops, 11/2 inch thickSalt and pepper
4 rounded T. rice, uncookedI No. 2 can tomatoes
2 small onions, halved2 whole cloves
Bay leafFew grains thyme

Preparation:


Salt and pepper chops and brown on both sides in fat (grease skillet with fat on chop). Arrange chops in fry pan or skillet. Place rounded tablespoon uncooked rice on each. Place solid parts of tomatoes on rice and pour liquid around chops. Add onions, cloves, bay leaf and thyme. Cover. Simmer 1 1/2 hours. Add tomato juice if necessary; do not let it get dry. Serve with green salad.
